Operates with three hidden digits. Nevertheless, the precision is only average.
Programmable Yes,merged keystrokes. It's speed compares the HP-41.
Performance Index 2.5
Memory Default 60 storage registers and 480 program steps. Storage registers can be converted to/from program steps in junks of 10 registers using the "OP 17" command. Ie. "1 OP 17" results in "879.09" indicating 10 storage registers (0-9) and 879 program steps. One storage registers corresponds to 8 program steps (about 1 byte). So in total the available memory is approximately 960 bytes (twice as much as the TI-58C).
No permanent memory.

According to A. Maurer from Switzerland a TI-59 plus PC-100C printer was 1000 SFr in 1980 (645 Euro as of 2/2005).
My own notes from October 1977 indicate a price of 900 DM (450 Euro).

Comment Texas Instrument's answer to Hewlett Packard's HP-67. However, the HP-67 is significantly slower than the TI-59 even though the RPN stack is a bit of an advantage for programming (needs less instructions).
